Dementia and massage

Agewell Mobile Massage exhibited at the Dementia and Community Care Conference last week and with the help of two Chisholm Institute’s redmedial massage students (Cristina and Carolyn) offered complimentary chair massages to the delegates.

This was our fourth major conference of 2014 and we were greatly encouraged to receive confirmatory feedback from attendees about the direction in which we are heading. We believe that tactile therapy (touch) is absolutely essential for the well-being of the elderly.

An attending pharmacist told us that she would “much rather prescribe a massage than a drug.” A veteran of aged care told us that “less medication reduces falls and the subsequent demand on beds.” We are passionate about helping more and more aged care clients receive the benefits of massage and we intend on leading the way in Australia.

We know that a regular massage can help improve a person’s quality of life and this positive impact is why we do what we do.
